I give to my wife Jane Davis, all my freehold property for her natural life.  I also give unto my wife Jane Davis all my house hold furniture, linen, plates, books and __  in trade and books debts out of which she is to pay all my lawful debts and whatever remains to be all at her own disposal as she thinks is proper with at the ___ of my wife Jane Davis.  I give my son John Davis the freehold house, shop and other buildings and premises now occupied by me by his paying ___ ___ hundred pounds the mortgage now on it and also paying his sister Ann Davis thirty pounds and his sister Eliza Davis thirty pounds.  I also give to my son Giles Davis the freehold house and premises now occupied by ___ Rogerson.  I also give to my son Giles Davis the freehold cottages and land at Haversham (?)  occupied by Thomas Greyhorn (?)  and other by his paying to his sister Agnes Davis 40 pounds and his sister Susannah Coulber (?) 40 pounds and his sister Ann Davis ten pounds and his sister Eliza Davis ten pounds.  Giles Davis my last will March 24, 1843 witnesses Richard Strubell, Isaac Delarne (?) He may be the son of Thomas Castlen and his wife Joanna, the testatrix of 1494, but proof is lacking. The language of Joanna Castlen's will is too indefinite to draw conclusions, although Richard did name his first-mentioned child Thomasina, the feminine of Thomas. An abstract of his will follows:

Overseer to be Sir John Castelyn my son. Witnesses: Thomas Born John Marrant and Willyam Hoigges. Feoffees to deliver to my son Christopher all properties in Tenterden and Rolvynden, paying unto Sir John Castelyn his brother $10 at 20s. per year . . . Alice Marrant my daughter to have my house which I have divided for her for life, . . . then to the heirs of Alice. . if Christopher or his heirs make any claim against the house, then she shall have 2 pieces of land called the Burchett and the Swyre.
