Abel FARR [Parents] [scrapbook] 1 was born 2, 3 on 30 Oct 1774 in Stow, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Abel married 4, 5 Ruth Mary SMITH "Polly" on 1 Dec 1794 in Westmoreland, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States.

Abel resided 6 in 1830 in Shalersville, Portage, Ohio, United States. He resided 7 in 1840 in Palmyra, Portage, Ohio, United States. He resided 8 on 18 Jun 1860 in Troy Township, Geauga, Ohio, United States.

The information I have on Abel Farr marrying Polly Smith, daughter of Aaron Smith, comes from History of Chesterfield, Cheshire, NH by Oran E. Randall, Brattleboro, VT. 1882, "FARR, 1. Abraham,"p 302-3. It says he was a son of Abraham Farr and Rachel Foskett. It is also listed under SMITH., 1. Moses, p 435.

From the research of Karen Farr:
Came to Lorain County Ohio from Vermont in 1817.
Source: 1807 History of Lorain County Ohio, Philadelphia: Williams Brothers 1879:
Pg. 245 Carlisle Settlement. paragraph 2: "A few months after Mr. Bacon made a commencement, a brother-in-law, Abel Farr, came on from Vermont and located on the north line and near the center east and west. His family that came with him was a wife and four children. Others who were married remained in Vermont; two came on afterwards and  settled near the father. None of them now live in the township, and the only descendants are the widow and  children of a son, Lowell, who was one of the children who came with the family."

Notes by Tim Farr:
In the first paragraph of the above citation it states that John Bacon of Windham Vermont was the first settler in Carlisle. He came with his children; Clarrissa, Hiram and Susan. Hiram married Louisa Halford. Abel's son, Lowell, married Phebe Loretta Holford. This would make Abel Farr and John Bacon In-laws not brother-in-laws.

I see different death dates from four different states for Abel and I don't see any proof for any of them belonging to this Abel Farr.

No proof can be found that this Abel had sons named Loren and Loreman so I have deleted them.
