M. Marion Rogers of Medfield, a retired nurse, died Monday at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was 81.
Born in Woodridge, N.J., she moved to Salem Depot, N.H., when she was 12. At age 24, she moved to Medfield.
She was educated in Salem public schools and attended the University of New Hampshire, majoring in nursing, but later changed her major to zoology. She was a member of the Phi Sigma Honorary Biological Society.
She graduated in 1945, earning a bachelor's degree in zoology. She later entered the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, where she earned a master's degree in nursing.
Mrs. Rogers became very involved in church after moving to Medfield. She was president of the Junior League of the Second Congregational Church of Medfield. She later became deacon. She was a charter member of the Medfield League of Women Voters, was a member of an exercise group called TOPS and participated in a weekly Bible study group.
She enjoyed swimming, ice skating, canning vegetables and vacationing at Cow Island, Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H.
Wife of the late William F. Jr., Mrs. Rogers is survived by three sons, Frank A. of Wareham, George E. of Walpole and Thomas H. of Medfield; a daughter, Mary Ellen Viens of Medfield; a brother, Benjamin Farr of Hawkins, Texas; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held yesterday at United Church of Christ, Medfield.
Burial was in Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

David E. Farr, 64, of Meshoppen, PA, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Diana Saravitz Farr. He was born in Sayre, PA on June 25, 1943, son of the late Clyde and Helen Keithline Farr. A 1961 graduate of Tunkhannock High School, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War as a sergeant. He retired from the Procter & Gamble Plant in Mehoopany after 28 years and was currently employed by Creekside Gardens in Tunkhannock, where he had worked for the past 10 years on the landscape construction crew. His passion for working with rocks and boulders made him one of the area’s premier water garden builders. He was a member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge and enjoyed NASCAR and working outdoors. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, David C. Farr of Tunkhannock; daughter, Christine McClain of Meshoppen; brothers, Rolland Farr of Statesville, NC and John Farr of Milton; sisters, Daisy Farr of Wyalusing, Geraldine Madill of Tunkhannock, Barbara Richter of Lovelton, Mildred Smith of Colley and Mary Jane Stephenson of Mehoopany; five grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 3 at 10 a.m. from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pastor Jean Swett. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery, Irish Hill. Barbara A. Richter of Lovelton died Friday at her home. She was born in Fox Hollow Windham Twp., on July 14, 1945 daughter of the late Clyde and Helen Keithline Farr.

Barb and her late husband Charles Thomas Richter were the owners of the Tomb Stone Inn in Lovelton for over 36 years. She attended the Mehoopany United Methodist Church and the Lovelton Bible Church. And was member of the Wyoming County Tavern Association.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by step daughters Cathy Pasternak, Jodi Richter, brother David Farr, sister Daisy E. Fassett and brother in law Joseph Madell.

Surviving are sons Charles T. and wife Julie of Jenningsville, Ronald E. of Lovelton and Raymond L. of Forkston, step daughters Carrie Thompson, Susan Richter, Beth Weisenfluh and step brother Charles T. Richter all of Scranton. Brothers Roland Farr of Statesville, NC, John Farr of Milton, sisters Geraldine Madell of Tunkhannock, Mildred Smith of Colley, Mary Jane Stephenson of Mehoopany, and sister in law Diane Farr of Meshoppen.

Graveside memorial service will be held in Vaughn Cemetery at 11 am on Saturday, March 23, 2013 with Pastor Jean Swett of the Mehoopany United Methodist Church presiding .
